Secretary Naig Hopeful that China Lifting its Ban on U.S. Poultry Signals More Agricultural Purchases on the Horizon
DES MOINES, Iowa (Nov. 14, 2019) – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig issued the following statement today in response to the announcement that China will lift its ban on poultry imports from the United States.
“I’m excited for Iowa poultry farmers to re-gain access to the Chinese market, which at one time accounted for $10.5 million in exports,” said Secretary Naig. “We are hopeful this is a positive sign that the U.S. and China are close to finalizing a long-term trade deal which will allow for significantly more agricultural purchases in the near future.”
